The food in Monaco is a combination of French and Italian cuisines. Some examples of food you can find in Monaco are baguettes, fresh fruit, pizza, fish, and pasta. Pizza is one of the most widely served dishes in Monaco, with all different toppings. Smaller snack bars provide foods such as paninis and focaccias.

 

A typical breakfast in Monaco is very light, usually coffee, bread, and donuts or pastries. Fresh fruit and yogurt are also popular.

 

Lunch is either eaten at a restaurant or at home and consists of salad or soups, fish, vegetables, and some sort of beverage.

 

Dinner in Monaco typically starts with a light alcoholic beverage and little appetizers, such as nuts and crackers. Next comes the appetizer which could include French onion soup, cheese souffle, or beef carpaccio. The main course can vary, often based in where one is eating. Usually some sort of meat is involved as well as salad and pasta on the side. After the main course comes dessert, as well as cheese. Some popular desserts in Monaco are tarts, mousse, and chocolates.

 

Since Monaco has a diverse population, all different types of restaurants can be found there. Chinese, Indian, and American (U.S.) are just a few examples.

 

A regional dish from Monaco is Salade Niçoise which includes fresh tuna fish atop a bed of lettuce, tomatoes, olives, green peppers, and onions. Most of the ingredients actually come from Nice, a nearby city in France and the fresh tuna comes from the Mediterranean Sea,
